Chattanooga Neuromuscular Therapy Massage

This type of massage therapy has been found to be highly effective for back pain, resulting from a soft tissue injury, such as a muscle strain. Neuromuscular therapy involves alternating levels of concentrated pressure on the areas where there is muscle spasm. The pressure is usually applied for about ten to thirty seconds by the massage therapist, who uses his or her fingers, knuckles, or elbow. This process tends to relax the muscle, which then releases the lactic acid and allows the muscle to start receiving enough blood and oxygen. Following a session, any resulting soreness should fade within 24 to 36 hours. The muscles that were tight prior to the session should remain relaxed for approximately four to fourteen days. The goal of Neuromuscular Therapy is to bring about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system.
